It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that New Cumberland River Rescue announces the passing of Terry Stoner

Terry A. Stoner, 65, of New Cumberland, died Saturday, August 13, 2011, at Harrisburg Hospital.

He was the Worldwide Telecommunications Manager for TE Connectivity, Harrisburg; a life member, founder and former Commander of New Cumberland River Rescue; the current Captain of New Cumberland Borough Special Fire Police; a former Community Service Officer for Lower Allen Twp. Police Dept.; a life member of New Cumberland Fire Department; a member of Pennsylvania State Fire Police Association; Cumberland County Fire Police Association; New Cumberland Emergency Preparedness; Cumberland County Special Police Emergency Response Team; a life member of the Rescue Fire Company, Middletown; a member of York County Fire Police Association; a former Mayor of New Cumberland Borough; a former New Cumberland Borough Councilman; a former New Cumberland Borough Police Officer; a former Cumberland County Deputy Sheriff; a former New Cumberland Borough Emergency Preparedness Director; a member of West Shore Lodge no. 681 F.&A.M., Camp Hill; the Micheaux Forest Association. Mr. Stoner was raised in Middletown. He also worked security for the West Shore School District, was a certified EMT, and a former New Cumberland Youth Baseball Coach.

Raised in Middletown and being born in Harrisburg on October 6, 1945, he was the son of the late Carl V. Stoner and Jean E. (Stump) Herrold.

Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Susan L. (Jackson) Stoner; two sons and their wives, Timothy A. and Michele M. of New Cumberland, and Matthew S. and Heather J. of New Cumberland; a sister in law and brother in law, Brenda A. and James Robinson of New Cumberland; seven grandchildren, Samantha, Stephanie, Taylor, Erin, Michael, Kyle, and Brenton.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday in First Church of God, Fourth and Reno Streets, New Cumberland, with Pastor Dan Masshardt officiating. Burial will be in Middletown Cemetery, Middletown.

Viewing will be held 5 – 8 PM Wednesday in Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland.

At the Stoner family’s request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Cumberland River Rescue, PO Box 445, New Cumberland, PA 17070.
